ABOUT US
The Team
Matt Godden founded Godden Marine with a conviction that the marine industry was ready — overdue, in fact — for a different kind of investor.

Most marine businesses have never been exposed to real capital, modern operations, or the kind of long-term thinking that turns a good business into a great one. Matt saw that gap not as a problem, but as the most interesting opportunity in private markets.
He is not a financial engineer. He is not an industry outsider looking to extract value. He is someone who understands what these businesses are, respects what they have built, and has a clear view of what they can become.
What drives Godden Marine
The conviction that the businesses shaping the future of the marine industry will not come from the old guard simply continuing as before — and will not come from financial buyers with no interest in the sector.
They will come from operators and owners who combine deep respect for the industry with the ambition and resources to change it.
That is Godden Marine.
It Takes A Team
Godden Marine is a collection of industry professionals and advisors — people who have spent their careers in maritime infrastructure, shipping, marine engineering, asset management, and finance.

This is what separates Godden Marine from a typical buyer. We are not learning the marine industry from the outside. Our team has built marine infrastructure, operated marine assets, and run marine businesses — and they bring that depth of experience to every acquisition we make.
Matt Godden leads Godden Marine. The team around him is what makes the vision executable.
"I have worked at all levels of the maritime industry from a junior employee to the CEO, Board Member, and shareholder of one of the largest maritime companies in the United States. My last company achieved a successful exit after years of hard work, dedication, and team execution that made such a positive result a reality. I believe in finding what people do well, investing in them, and supporting them to achieve great things."
